Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, along with other commission members, visited Kedarnath Dham and offered prayers to Baba Kedar. During the spiritual visit, he prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the people of India.
District Magistrate Dr. Saurabh welcomed the delegation at Kedarnath and presented them with souvenirs, Kedarnath replicas, and shawls made from local products. After the darshan, Dr. Panagariya inspected the ongoing reconstruction works in Kedarpuri. He praised the Uttarakhand government for executing the development and restoration projects with speed and high quality.
He appreciated the administration’s commitment to ensuring pilgrims’ safety and comfort. Calling Kedarnath both a spiritual center and a natural heritage site nestled in the Himalayas, Dr. Panagariya also admired the surrounding beauty, highlighting its blend of environmental balance and spiritual serenity.
Other commission members also commended the facilities and arrangements made for devotees and expressed pride in the restoration of one of the country’s most sacred pilgrimage sites.
