Five new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Uttarakhand, taking the total number of infections in the state to 10. Among the new cases are two doctors from AIIMS Rishikesh. Out of the 10 cases, six are currently active. One patient has been admitted to Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, while the remaining five are under home isolation.

According to health officials, 19 RTPCR tests were conducted on Wednesday, of which five turned out positive. Two of these patients are state residents, while three had recently returned from Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Bijnor. The six active cases also include a staff nurse from AIIMS Rishikesh, along with the two infected doctors.

In response to the rising number of infections, a state-wide alert has been issued across all healthcare units. Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar confirmed that preparations to handle COVID-19 are being intensified.

Following the spike in cases, the health department has directed all medical facilities to remain on alert mode. Authorities are urging citizens to take necessary precautions and follow COVID-appropriate behaviour to prevent further spread.
