The monsoon is expected to reach Uttarakhand around June 20, beginning with heavy rainfall in the Kumaon region followed by Garhwal. According to meteorologists, the monsoon has already entered parts of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and is likely to advance into Uttarakhand within the next two to three days.
From June 18 to 24, light to moderate rainfall is expected across the state’s hill and plain areas. Pre-monsoon showers have already been active across the region, particularly affecting hilly districts and low-lying areas.
Post arrival, Garhwal’s Dehradun and Pauri districts may experience more intense rainfall compared to other regions. Dehradun is forecasted to witness intermittent rainfall throughout the week, with two distinct rain spells expected on Thursday. However, no major fluctuations in temperature are anticipated. On Wednesday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 32.5°C and a minimum of 24.6°C. On Thursday, the maximum is expected to rise slightly to 33°C, while the minimum may dip to 24°C.
