Liquor and Drug Seizures Worth Over ₹14.22 Crore Ahead of Panchayat Elections

Ahead of the ongoing three-tier panchayat elections in Uttarakhand, police and the excise department have intensified their crackdown, seizing illegal liquor, drugs, cash, and precious metals worth over ₹14.22 crore.

On July 16 alone, police confiscated 763.300 litres of illicit liquor valued at ₹5,17,033. The excise department also seized 653.70 litres of liquor, estimated to be worth ₹5,58,456. In addition, police recovered 1.5929 kilograms of narcotics, with a market value of ₹13,00,200.

As of July 16, authorities have seized a total of 19,215.950 litres of liquor worth ₹98,97,810, and 28.3913 kilograms of narcotics valued at ₹12,94,08,809. The total worth of all confiscated items now stands at ₹14,22,38,719.

The enforcement drive highlights the administration’s firm stance on preventing the misuse of money and intoxicants during the election period.
