Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami during the Uttarakhand Investment Festival, stating that every visit to the state fills him with renewed energy. Highlighting the natural wealth of the region, he remarked that Uttarakhand’s rivers provide drinking and irrigation water to half of India.
Recalling the 2023 Global Investors Summit, Shah noted that he had then urged the Chief Minister to not just bring MoUs but to implement them. He applauded CM Dhami for grounding investment proposals worth ₹1 lakh crore—no small feat for a hill state. According to Shah, this achievement has shattered previous myths and difficulties, leading to the creation of over 81,000 jobs in the state.
Shah emphasized that bringing investment to a hilly region like Uttarakhand is as tough as climbing mountains, and congratulated Dhami for overcoming the odds. He also took aim at the Congress, alleging that it had oppressed statehood activists during the Uttarakhand movement, while crediting former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for creating the state. He highlighted that Vajpayee had created three new states—Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand—all of which are now self-reliant.
Drawing comparisons, Shah said the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government gave ₹53,000 crore to Uttarakhand over ten years, while the Modi government has provided ₹1.86 lakh crore in the same duration. He predicted that by 2027, India will become the world’s third-largest economy. He also stated that the remaining few Congress leaders would vanish in the coming years.
Shah concluded by commending CM Dhami’s leadership and governance, attributing the state’s developmental progress and investment success to the BJP government’s commitment.
