The Uttarakhand Assembly’s monsoon session will be held in Bharadisain, the state’s summer capital, from August 19 to 22. Legislators have submitted 545 questions to the Assembly Secretariat, with a significant focus on disaster management and rehabilitation of affected families. This comes as the state faces widespread damage from landslides and other natural calamities.
The opposition plans to press the government on disaster relief, corruption, and other issues, while the ruling side prepares strong responses. Congress will finalise its strategy in a legislative party meeting.
The session poses logistical challenges due to heavy rains and frequent landslides on routes to Bharadisain. Despite the difficulties, the Assembly has completed arrangements, citing constitutional obligations to convene a session before August 22, six months after the last budget session.
