The 2026 Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through Uttarakhand will begin from Tanakpur on July 5, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami set to flag off the first batch of pilgrims from the Tourist Rest House (TRC). The first group will arrive at the TRC on the evening of July 4 before beginning its onward journey to Lipulekh via Gunji.
Preparations for the pilgrimage were reviewed in a high-level meeting chaired by Kumaon Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister, Deepak Rawat, at the Haldwani camp office. Officials were directed to ensure that the pilgrimage is conducted in a safe, smooth and well-organised manner while further improving facilities for devotees.
According to Chief Minister’s Camp Office Nodal Officer Kedar Brijwal, the first batch of pilgrims will be flagged off by the Chief Minister on July 5. TRC Manager Manoj Kumar said a total of 10 batches will undertake the pilgrimage this year, with each batch comprising around 50 pilgrims.
The journey from Tanakpur to Kailash Mansarovar will span 18 days. Last year, the state government launched the pilgrimage route for the first time. Out of 250 registered pilgrims in five batches, 237 completed the pilgrimage after 13 were declared medically unfit.
The first batch will assemble in Delhi on June 30. Medical examinations and visa-related formalities will be completed on July 1, followed by additional medical checks at the ITBP camp on July 2. Fee-related formalities will be completed on July 3, and the pilgrims will reach the TRC in Tanakpur on July 4. On July 5, they will depart for Dharchula before continuing through Gunji and Nabidhang, eventually crossing into China via the Lipulekh Pass.
The remaining batches are scheduled to arrive in Tanakpur on July 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 and 28, followed by August 1, 5 and 9. Each batch will stay overnight in Tanakpur before proceeding on the pilgrimage the following day.
