Teachers Boycott Evaluation of Uttarakhand Board Improvement Exams

Teachers in Uttarakhand continued their chalk-down strike for the second day, boycotting the evaluation of Class 10 and 12 improvement exams. The protest, led by the Government Teachers’ Association, comes amid anger over delays in promotions and transfers. Association’s provincial general secretary, Ramesh Panyuli, stated that teachers will also refuse to perform BLO duties.

The evaluation of improvement exams is being conducted at two centers in Dehradun and Haldwani. According to Vinod Simlty, Secretary of the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, more than half of the evaluation work has been completed. He urged striking teachers to cooperate, warning that if they continue the boycott, the task will be assigned to teachers from private schools.

Teachers involved in the protest also announced that no departmental correspondence will be handled during the strike, and data on student and teacher attendance will not be sent to Vidya Samiksha Kendra. District president of the association in Dehradun, Kuldeep Kandari, said the boycott will continue until the government cancels direct recruitment and accepts their demands for 100 percent promotions and transfers.
