Jheel-2025 Begins at VCSG Medical College Srinagar: Minister Announces E-Libraries and 24-Hour Access to College Libraries

Remarkable improvement in overall Uttarakhand Board Results: Dr Dhan Singh Rawat

The annual cultural festival “Jheel-2025” began with enthusiasm at Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Medical College, Srinagar. The event was inaugurated by Uttarakhand’s Medical Education Minister, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, who highlighted the state government’s efforts to enhance the academic environment for MBBS students. The inaugural ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances by students, showcasing the spirit of the medical community.

Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said the government is committed to strengthening the standard of medical education across Uttarakhand. He announced that all medical college libraries in the state will now remain open 24 hours to help students study as per their convenience. Additionally, each hostel will soon have a fully equipped reading room. The minister also revealed plans to set up e-libraries in medical and nursing colleges to provide students easy access to digital learning resources.

Dr. Rawat further informed that 15 types of sports equipment will be distributed to all medical colleges to encourage student participation in sports alongside academics. He added that inter-college sports competitions among medical colleges will be held, with the grand finale scheduled to take place at AIIMS Rishikesh.

Foundation Laid for Two New Girls’ Hostels
On the same occasion, Dr. Rawat laid the foundation stone for repair works of two girls’ hostels at the medical college campus. He also inaugurated the Emergency Operation Theatre and the Obstetrics & Gynaecology OT at the Base Hospital, Srinagar. The minister stated that these upgrades will provide improved residential facilities for female students and create a better academic atmosphere.

He emphasized that the government’s vision is to develop Uttarakhand’s medical colleges not only as educational institutions but also as hubs of innovation and excellence in healthcare.

College Principal Dr. Ashutosh Sayana welcomed the minister and expressed gratitude for his continued support, stating that under Dr. Rawat’s leadership, medical education in the state is progressing rapidly and benefiting thousands of students. He also extended birthday wishes to the minister during the event.
