Dehradun, 19 Oct: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday virtually participated in the ‘First Dhanvantari Mahotsav’ organised at Malagram in Yamkeshwar. Extending his best wishes to all on the occasion, he said that the ‘Herbal World Himalaya Shri Dhanvantari Dham’ established at Malagram, Yamkeshwar, is the world’s only integrated centre for Ayurveda and natural healing. This Dham will serve as a living embodiment of India’s “Arogya Sanskriti” (health culture), where one will witness a remarkable confluence of health principles laid down by ancient sages along with nine major botany-based systems of medicine and nearly 964 healing practices from across the globe.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this sacred site will not only be beneficial in the fields of Ayurveda, Yoga, medicinal plants and holistic health but will also play a significant role in promoting innovation, research and training in natural healing practices. He said that Ayurveda is a unique medical system that has ensured the well-being of human civilisation since ancient times. Due to its holistic approach, the acceptance of Ayurveda is continuously increasing across the world today. Ayurveda nurtures physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Uttarakhand has, since ancient times, been a land of wisdom in Ayurveda and medicinal wealth. The medicinal herbs found in the mountainous regions of the state have played a vital role in establishing Ayurveda as a fundamental pillar of health.

The Chief Minister added that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of AYUSH was established with the objective of promoting ancient Indian systems of medicine and ensuring a healthy life for citizens. Through various programmes like the National AYUSH Mission and the Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan, efforts are being made to strengthen health and wellness among people while simultaneously encouraging research, training and innovation in the fields of Ayurveda, Yoga and natural medicine.

The Chief Minister added that the state government is consistently working towards the promotion of Ayurveda in Uttarakhand. Over 300 AYUSH-based Ayushman Arogya Kendras are currently operational in the state. Additionally, 50-bed and 10-bed AYUSH hospitals are being established in every district. With the implementation of the AYUSH Policy, firm steps are being taken towards medicine production, wellness services, education, research and the cultivation and promotion of medicinal plants. In the coming years, the state government plans to launch AYUSH tele-consultation services and establish 50 new Yoga and wellness centres. To encourage research in the fields of Yoga, meditation and natural medicine, grants of up to Rs 10 lakh have also been provisioned. Furthermore, to promote Ayurvedic and natural healing, Yoga and spiritual tourism, one Spiritual Economic Zone is being developed in both Garhwal and Kumaon regions.

The programme was attended by Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Cabinet Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, former Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna and Baba Hathyogi.
