Rishikesh: Cardiologists from across India are gathering at AIIMS Rishikesh for the three-day annual conference of the Cardiological Society of India (Uttarakhand Chapter), where they are exploring new and advanced techniques in heart disease treatment. The event focuses on preventive, interventional, and advanced cardiology, with in-depth sessions on upcoming challenges and innovations in cardiac care.
The conference, organized under the guidance of AIIMS Rishikesh Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh and Dean (Academics) Prof. Jaya Chaturvedi, was inaugurated on Friday. The opening day witnessed detailed discussions on the “Left Bundle Branch Pacing (LBBP)” technique, a new and highly effective method of pacemaker implantation. The session was addressed by former PGIMER Chandigarh Director and PSRI Hospital Delhi’s Chairman of Cardiac Sciences Prof. K.K. Talwar, Organizing Chairman Dr. Amar Pal Singh Gulhati, Co-Chair Prof. Bhanu Duggal, Organizing Secretary Dr. Barun Kumar, and Convener Dr. Preeti Sharma, among others.
Highlighting the benefits of LBBP, Dr. Barun Kumar, Cardiologist and Organizing Secretary, explained that this pacemaker implantation technique significantly reduces the risk of heart weakness by 10–15 percent compared to conventional methods. He added that it is safer and more comfortable for patients. To enhance medical learning, a live workshop was also conducted where specialists including Dr. Somunga Sundaram and Dr. I.B. Vijayalakshmi demonstrated precise pacemaker implantation procedures.

Prominent cardiologists and medical professionals including Dr. Amar Upadhyay, Dr. Raj Pratap Singh, Dr. Prakash Pant, Dr. Gagan Jain, Dr. Shamshad Alam, Dr. Himanshu Rana, Dr. Satish Kumar, Dr. Tanuj Bhatia, and Dr. Suven Kumar were also present along with medical students. The conference will continue for three days, providing a platform for experts to share knowledge and discuss advancements that could transform cardiac care in India.
