Pithoragarh Mourns Its Brave Son: ITBP Inspector Vinita Chand Rajwar Martyred Near China Border in Ladakh

Pithoragarh: The nation mourns the loss of ITBP Inspector (Medical) Vinita Chand Rajwar, who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty along the China border in Ladakh. The brave officer, originally from Seri Suwalekh and residing in Jagdamba Colony, Pithoragarh, belonged to the 16th Battalion of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.

The news of his martyrdom brought deep sorrow to his hometown. His mortal remains were flown from Ladakh to Delhi and then transported by road to Pithoragarh, where the entire locality gathered to pay their last respects. As his body reached home, grief overwhelmed the family and residents.

Former councillor and social worker Dinesh Saun offered floral tributes, consoling the bereaved family. Several others, including former CAPF Personnel Association president Chhavi Verma, patron Jagat Singh Saun, and members of the Senior Citizen Welfare Society, paid homage to the fallen hero.

Inspector Rajwar hailed from a family with a proud military legacy. His great-grandfather, Subedar Chandri Chand, was a Vir Chakra awardee, while his grandfather, Naib Subedar Bhani Chand, had received the Sena Medal. His father, Indra Chand Rajwar, is a retired Deputy Commandant.

The final rites were performed with full military honours at Rameshwar Ghat, at the confluence of the Saryu and Ramganga rivers. His father and uncle, Subedar Mahendra Chand, lit the pyre. The ITBP contingent, led by Sub-Inspector Kunwar Singh and Inspector Girish Chand from the 14th Battalion, offered the last salute to the brave martyr who laid down his life in the line of duty.
