Police Raid House Party in dehradun

Dehradun, November 24, 2024:
A joint operation by the excise department and police uncovered an illicit house party in Gajiyawala village near Dehradun. A total of 57 individuals, including 40 men and 17 women, were detained. The party featured alcohol and loud music, with many participants reportedly attending similar gatherings in the past. The raid occurred following a tip-off about a viral invitation on social media promoting a “secret room party” and requiring prior registration for entry. Police and excise teams traced the location to a large house in Gajiyawala. Upon arrival, they found vehicles parked outside and loud music playing indoors.

Inside, officers discovered a hall filled with partygoers, along with a counter displaying a significant quantity of liquor. Around one crate of foreign-made liquor was seized. The detained individuals were fined under the Police Act, while the homeowner, identified as Ranjani from Gajiyawala, was charged under the Excise Act.

Investigations revealed that the organizers rented the house for one night from the homeowner, who reportedly lives alone. Details about the rental fee are yet to emerge. Organizers allegedly charged attendees an entry fee ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹3,000, offering drinks based on the fee category.

The party’s invitation, which featured explicit content, was circulated widely on social media, labeled as a “secret room party.” The invite included a contact number and link for registration, which helped police identify the participants.

SP City Pramod Kumar praised the excise department’s support in the operation. Meanwhile, District Excise Officer Prabha Shankar Mishra stated that the raid was initiated after spotting the invitation on WhatsApp. Authorities are now probing previous parties linked to the organizers to uncover further violations.
