Chamoli – On Friday, high-altitude regions of Badrinath Dham witnessed fresh snowfall, accompanied by similar conditions in Hemkund Sahib, Rudranath, Lal Mati, Nanda Ghughuti, and the Niti and Mana valleys. Meanwhile, heavy hailstorm struck areas like Gopeshwar and Pipalkoti for about half an hour, whereas Karnaprayag experienced strong winds but no rainfall. Cold winds were also reported in the evening around Gopeshwar.
In Dasholi block, hailstorms in Ghingharaan, Devar, Khadora, and Kujon-Maikot severely damaged wheat crops and green vegetables, causing distress among local farmers.
Orange Rain Alert Issued Across All Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rainfall across all districts of Uttarakhand. Alongside rain, gusty winds and chances of hailstorms have been predicted. Districts likely to be affected include Dehradun, Pauri, Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Almora.
Wind speeds may reach up to 30–60 km/h during this period. In Dehradun, cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, with potential for rainfall. The changing weather may cause a drop in maximum temperature by one degree and a slight dip of 0.1°C in the minimum temperature. On Friday, Dehradun recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C and a minimum of 20.1°C.
