The Uttarakhand government has issued a formal government order to name the proposed state nursing college at Dobh after Ankita Bhandari, following directions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The move comes amid continued political and social debate surrounding the Ankita Bhandari murder case.
Meanwhile, former MLA Suresh Rathore returned to Haridwar on Thursday after receiving interim relief from the High Court in a case registered at Bahadrabad police station. Speaking to the media at his residence in Jwalapur, Rathore maintained that he is innocent and said he is confident justice will prevail. He stated that his fight will continue until the truth comes out.
Rathore said he will not wear saffron clothes until he gets complete justice, describing the decision as a personal vow linked to his faith. On the Ankita Bhandari case, he alleged that the social atmosphere in the state was deliberately vitiated. He accused Urmila of triggering the situation and alleged that the Congress party misused public sentiments by politicising Ankita’s name.
The former MLA claimed that there was a well-planned conspiracy to drag his associates into the case and said attempts were made to tarnish the image of the Ravidas Peeth. He asserted that he neither used objectionable language nor insulted anyone and added that if any guilty person has been spared, he would accept whatever decision the government takes.

Questioning the authenticity of the viral audio linked to the case, Rathore said that in the age of advanced technology, voices can be generated using artificial intelligence. He demanded an impartial and technical investigation of the audio to establish the truth. Notably, after the FIR was registered on December 27, Rathore remained away from public view for nearly 11 days.
