A government primary school in Safipur, Roorkee, once struggling with poor infrastructure and low student engagement, has now emerged as a model institution following sustained efforts by teacher Rekha Budkoti.
When Rekha Budkoti took charge as the in-charge of Government Primary School, Safipur, the campus faced multiple challenges. There was a shortage of resources, low student interest in studies, and limited parental involvement. Despite these hurdles, she resolved not to compromise on the quality of education.
With consistent efforts and support from an NGO, the school underwent visible transformation. Smart classrooms, a computer lab, a playground, and sports equipment were introduced. Educational and motivational wall paintings related to the curriculum were added, helping students learn basic literacy, mathematics, and general knowledge through interactive methods. Digital tools were also integrated into daily teaching to make lessons more engaging.
As a result, student attendance has improved significantly, and academic performance has shown progress. Parents, who earlier showed little interest in sending their children regularly to school, are now actively involved in their children’s education.
