‘BHUDEV’ App to Alert Users Before Earthquakes, CM Dhami Urges Citizens to Download

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has urged residents of the state to download the ‘BHUDEV’ mobile application, which provides early warnings of earthquakes. The app has been jointly developed by IIT Roorkee and the State Disaster Management Authority.

Highlighting the seismic sensitivity of Uttarakhand, CM Dhami emphasized the need for citizens to stay alert and proactive. He appealed to everyone to install the app on their own and their family members’ smartphones.

Disaster Management Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman informed that 169 sensors and 112 sirens have been installed across the state. These systems can detect primary earthquake waves. If the magnitude is 5 or above, the BHUDEV app will trigger a siren, giving users a 15 to 30-second warning before the secondary waves arrive — enough time to reach a safe location. The app is available on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
