Car Carrying Family to Wedding Plunges into River in Uttarakhand; Five Dead

A tragic accident occurred on Saturday morning near Bhalla village on the Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway, where a car carrying a family to a wedding plunged nearly 300 meters down into the Alaknanda River. Five people died on the spot, while one woman was seriously injured.

According to reports, six people from Faridabad and Roorkee were traveling to attend a wedding ceremony in Gauchar. Upon receiving information about the accident, police, local administration, and the SDRF team rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation.

The injured woman, Anita Devi (45), wife of Madan Singh Negi, was rescued from the car and admitted to Base Hospital in Srinagar (Shri Kot). She later informed rescue teams about the identities of other family members in the vehicle, after which a search for the bodies in the river was initiated.
