Indian Air Force personnel from Kothi village in Chamoli’s Dewal block bid farewell to 37-year-old Air Force jawan Ashish Juyal with full military honours at his ancestral cremation ground at Ghatbagad on Thursday. According to the information available, Ashish was admitted to the Army Hospital in Palam on September 12 after his health suddenly deteriorated. He died during treatment on the night of September 15. His sudden death has left Kothi village and the surrounding area in mourning.
Family overcome with grief as body arrives wrapped in Tricolour
At around 3:30 pm on Thursday, Air Force personnel brought Ashish’s mortal remains to his ancestral home in Kothi village. As his body, wrapped in the Tricolour, reached the house, his family members broke down in grief.
Hundreds of people from the area gathered to pay their last respects to the Air Force jawan. Residents offered their final tribute with tearful eyes before the cremation. Air Force Warrant Officer Sanjay Kumar and local MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta were among those who paid their respects to Ashish.
Ashish is survived by his mother Deveshwari, wife Sandhya and six-year-old daughter. The cremation was carried out at the ancestral Ghatbagad cremation ground with military honours, where Air Force personnel offered the final salute.
