Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday flagged off 11 clean fuel-based vehicles and distributed subsidy cheques to six primary beneficiaries under the Uttarakhand Clean Mobility Transition Policy-2024. The programme was held at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office.
During the event, the Chief Minister presented capital grant and incentive subsidy cheques to six vehicle owners. The Transport Department also confirmed that the subsidy approval process for five additional beneficiaries has been completed.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami said the financial assistance is not merely an economic incentive but reflects the state government’s commitment to promoting a clean, modern, and environmentally sustainable transport system in Uttarakhand. He said the initiative would encourage the adoption of clean fuel-based public transport in urban areas, reduce pollution caused by diesel-powered vehicles, and strengthen environmental conservation efforts.
The Chief Minister noted that the world is facing the growing challenge of climate change, making it essential to strike a balance between development and environmental protection. He said development becomes meaningful only when it is achieved in harmony with nature while ensuring a cleaner and safer future for coming generations.
Highlighting the Centre’s environmental initiatives, CM Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is playing a leading role in green energy and sustainable development. He referred to the country’s net-zero emissions target by 2070, the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) campaign, the PM e-Bus Service, and the expansion of solar and other renewable energy sources as key initiatives demonstrating India’s commitment to environmental protection.
