International Yoga Day: Main State Event to Be Held in Gairsain

For the first time, Uttarakhand will host its state-level International Yoga Day celebrations in Gairsain, the summer capital of the state. The AYUSH department has received formal approval from the state government to organize the event on June 21, marking the 11th International Yoga Day. In a significant development, ambassadors from 10 different countries will also be invited to attend the grand event.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will participate in yoga sessions at the Bharadisain Assembly Complex and deliver a message promoting a healthy lifestyle through yoga. Preparations are already underway at the venue, with the Ayurveda department spearheading the arrangements.

To promote yoga across the state, various awareness programs began nearly six weeks ago. Live yoga demonstrations from scenic locations such as lakesides and riversides are also being conducted to link yoga with nature. Additionally, yoga-themed drawing competitions are being held in schools across all districts.

AYUSH Secretary Deependra Chaudhary confirmed that district-level events are also in progress alongside the state event. In accordance with AYUSH Ministry guidelines, a yoga park is being developed in every district, where residents can practice yoga regularly during morning and evening hours.
