Justice Guhanathan Narendar Assumes Office as Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court

Justice Guhanathan Narendar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi read out the Presidential Warrant of Appointment on the occasion.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Cabinet Ministers Subodh Uniyal and Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, former Chief Ministers Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Trivendra Singh Rawat, DGP Deepam Seth, Nainital High Court Registrar General Kehkasha Khan, and Legal Advisor Amit Sirohi.

Justice Guhanathan Narendar’s Judicial Journey

Born on January 10, 1964, Justice Guhanathan Narendar completed his BA and LLB before enrolling in the Tamil Nadu Bar Council in 1989. He began his legal career at the Madras High Court, specializing in constitutional, civil, environmental, taxation, and arbitration matters. In 2015, he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court and became a permanent judge in 2017. He also served at the Andhra Pradesh High Court before being elevated to the Chief Justice position at the Nainital High Court.
