Dehradun  – The Dehradun district administration has ordered a magistrial inquiry into the city bus accident that occurred near Lalpul on Saharanpur Road on June 23. District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan has appointed the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) as the inquiry officer and directed that a detailed report be submitted within one week.

The accident took place at around 11 a.m. when city bus number UK 07 PA 0287 met with an accident. Two people, including 22-year-old Ahad, a resident of Rajeev Nagar in Patel Nagar, lost their lives, while three others sustained injuries.

The District Magistrate has instructed the inquiry officer to examine all aspects of the incident, including the cause of the accident, the number of passengers and the driver on board, details of the deceased and injured, the medical condition of the injured, information about the legal heirs of the deceased, the Transport Department’s technical inspection report, and whether the vehicle complied with tax and Motor Vehicles Act provisions.

The inquiry will also recommend measures to prevent similar accidents in the future. The district administration said further action will be taken based on the findings of the report.

The District Magistrate has appealed to the public to share any written or oral evidence related to the accident with the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) within one week if they possess any relevant information.
