Bageshwar. Forest fire incidents continued in several parts of the district amid rising temperatures. Late Tuesday night, fires broke out in forests near Gairad, Bilkhet, Bhoomiyadhar, Chandika Road and different areas of Garud, spreading smoke across nearby regions.
In some places, the fire reached close to residential areas, causing concern among villagers. Residents of Gairad-Bilkhet informed the forest department and fire teams after the flames started spreading rapidly. In Gram Panchayat Palsu Angdin, villagers remained alert throughout the night after the fire moved close to the settlement area.
Fire units remained on alert considering the ongoing fire season. Teams carried out operations at multiple locations and managed to stop the fire from reaching residential areas.
At Bhoomiyadhar and near the RFC warehouse on Chandika Road, fire personnel used water tenders to control the flames moving toward nearby houses. Officials said the timely response helped prevent damage to residential areas and forest land. In the Garud area, fire teams controlled forest fires near Ainchhar village, Seema Band Kausani, Majkot and near Lovely Restaurant using water tenders, high-pressure pumps and fire lines.
The administration has appealed to people to cooperate in preventing forest fires during the summer season. Officials warned of strict legal action against those found involved in setting forests on fire. Residents have also been asked to immediately inform the fire station or dial 112 in case of any fire incident.
