Owaisi Slams BJP Over SC Remarks, Accuses Party of Threatening Judiciary

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his controversial remarks targeting the Supreme Court. Owaisi accused the ruling party of attempting to intimidate the judiciary and pushing it towards a so-called “religious war.” He argued that BJP leaders were making reckless statements without understanding the judicial process.

The remarks came in response to Dubey’s statement alleging that the Supreme Court was promoting religious conflict and behaving like the legislature. He went on to question the court’s decisions on issues like homosexuality, claiming that if the apex court wishes to make laws, there is no need for Parliament or state assemblies.

Owaisi defended the judiciary, invoking Article 142 of the Constitution, which empowers the Supreme Court to pass orders to ensure complete justice. He said the judiciary’s role must be respected and its independence safeguarded.

Dubey had also raised objections to the court’s interventions in high-profile matters such as the Ram Mandir and Gyanvapi mosque disputes, accusing it of overstepping its constitutional role.
