Pahalgam Terror Attack: President Briefed, Centre Takes Tough Decisions on National Security

Following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, the Indian government has ramped up its response with a series of decisive national security measures. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to chair an all-party meeting, called urgently to address the situation.

Ahead of this meeting, Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar briefed President Droupadi Murmu on the attack, which sources say marks a pivotal moment in the Centre’s diplomatic and strategic stance.

In a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government decided to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan immediately. Additionally, the Attari border has been shut down, and Pakistani nationals residing in India have been ordered to leave within 48 hours. Pakistani diplomats have also been asked to exit the country. The Indian Army and security agencies have been placed on high alert nationwide.
