A woman was killed in a leopard attack in Wadiyun village of the Sitonsyun Patti area under Kot block in Pauri district, triggering fear and anger among local residents.
According to local reports, the woman had gone to collect fodder from an area located around 200 metres from her home on Tuesday. During this time, a leopard that was reportedly hiding in nearby bushes attacked her.
When the woman did not return home for a long time, family members and villagers began searching for her. During the search operation, they discovered her body at an abandoned structure located some distance from the attack site.
Villagers raised an alarm after spotting the leopard near the body, following which the animal fled into the nearby forest area. The incident has created panic across the village and surrounding areas.
Residents alleged that leopard movement had been reported in the region on several occasions and claimed that preventive measures were not taken in time. Following the incident, villagers demanded immediate action from the Forest Department and called for steps to prevent further attacks.
Forest Department officials reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation. The department has appealed to residents to avoid venturing alone into forested areas and to remain vigilant.
