Rudrapur. A shocking incident inside Gadarpur police station has sparked fresh questions over police functioning after a cattle owner allegedly consumed poison on the premises, claiming he had failed to get justice in a buffalo theft case despite repeatedly approaching authorities.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when Rajendra Singh, a resident of Bamanpuri village, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance inside the police station compound. The move created panic among police personnel, who rushed him to a private hospital. Due to his critical condition, doctors later referred him to the district hospital for further treatment.
According to information, three buffaloes belonging to Rajendra Singh were stolen some time ago. While police had earlier claimed to have arrested some accused persons and recovered a vehicle linked to the case, the complainant maintained that the investigation remained incomplete and that he had not received justice.
Rajendra Singh had previously submitted complaints to senior police officials, alleging serious irregularities in the handling of the case. He claimed that effective action was not taken against those involved in the theft and alleged that he faced pressure, inappropriate behaviour, and attempts to push for a compromise.
The cattle owner also questioned the manner in which evidence and accused persons were handled during the investigation, raising concerns about the overall police response to the case.
Sources said Rajendra Singh had been pursuing the matter for a long time and had become increasingly frustrated over the lack of progress. His decision to consume poison inside the police station has intensified scrutiny of the police department’s handling of public grievances.
The incident has triggered discussions among local residents, with many demanding an impartial inquiry into both the buffalo theft case and the circumstances that led the complainant to take such an extreme step. Authorities have not yet issued a detailed statement regarding the allegations made by the victim.
