Roorkee News: CM Dhami Inaugurates ₹5 Crore Hi-Tech Sports Complex

Roorkee – Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday inaugurated a hi-tech sports complex built by the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) in Roorkee at a cost of ₹5 crore. The facility is expected to provide modern sports infrastructure for local athletes and encourage greater participation in sports among the youth.

During the inauguration, the Chief Minister inspected the sports complex, ran on a treadmill and spent time in the gym. He also interacted with children and young athletes present at the venue and discussed their sporting aspirations.

Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami said Uttarakhand is steadily establishing itself not only as Devbhoomi but also as a land of sports. He highlighted the state’s performance at the National Games, where Uttarakhand athletes won 103 medals.

He added that talented players are emerging across several disciplines, including cricket, and expressed confidence that the new sports complex would provide better training opportunities for aspiring athletes while promoting a stronger sporting culture in the region.

Transport Minister Pradeep Batra said the sports complex would become a major milestone in the development of Roorkee and support the city’s vision of becoming a smart city.

He also announced that Roorkee would soon receive a new bus terminal on the lines of an ISBT, along with a road connecting it to the bypass. He added that the construction of an ongoing bridge project is expected to be completed within the next two to three months.

District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar, HRDA Secretary Pratyush Singh, Joint Secretary Deepak Ramchandra Shet and other officials were present during the inauguration ceremony.
