Dehradun — The annual sports festival of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Khelotsav 2025, concluded with grandeur at the university sports ground on Saturday. The School of Humanities and Social Sciences claimed the overall championship trophy after six days of intense competitions featuring 21 sporting events.
The closing ceremony began with a graceful Ganesh Vandana by female students, followed by vibrant musical performances from the Department of Music that filled the atmosphere with energy and enthusiasm. Hon’ble President of Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Shri Mahant Devendra Das Ji Maharaj, congratulated all participants and organizers for the successful event and encouraged students to continue excelling in both academics and sports.
Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Prathapan K. Pillai, Acting Vice-Chancellor and Advisor to the President, inaugurated the ceremony, emphasizing that sports are not just a measure of physical ability but also instill discipline, patience, and leadership. Registrar Dr. Lokesh Gambhir commended the students for their spirited participation and said that Khelotsav 2025 enriched the university’s culture of discipline and teamwork.
Sports Officer and Organizing Secretary Satya Prakash Joshi presented the event report, noting that the competition was a platform for holistic student development rather than merely a contest. “Winners inspire others, while those who lose learn — both are essential to growth,” he said.

In athletics, Anshul Bisht from the School of Engineering and Technology won the 100m sprint in the boys’ category, while Sakshi from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences topped the girls’ race. The 4×100m relay for boys was dominated by the School of Yogic Science and Naturopathy, and the girls’ relay was won by the School of Management and Commerce Studies. In the tug-of-war competition, the School of Engineering and Technology triumphed in the boys’ category, while the School of Pharmacy secured victory among girls.

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences lifted the overall championship trophy, winning the highest number of medals. The event’s stage was managed smoothly by Isha Sharma, Kanishk Rawat, and Yanish Rawat, who ensured flawless coordination.

At the conclusion, Dr. Puneet Ohri, Chairperson of Khelotsav 2025, extended gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organizers for their dedication. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Gannarajan, Dr. Vipul Jain, Dr. Ashish Kulshreshtha, Dr. Kamla Jakhmola, Dr. Sumita, Dr. Manjusha Tyagi, and several other faculty members, department heads, and students.
With enthusiastic participation and outstanding performances, Khelotsav 2025 reaffirmed that Shri Guru Ram Rai University continues to promote excellence not only in academics but also in sports and overall student development.
