Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India has imposed strict guidelines on political advertisements in print media. The Chief Electoral Officer clarified that no political party or candidate will be allowed to publish advertisements without prior approval from the Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) during the 48-hour silence period before voting begins.
This restriction applies on February 4 and 5, with voting scheduled for February 5. Letters have been issued to political parties and media outlets, emphasizing that only MCMC-certified content can be published as advertisements during this period. This measure aims to ensure free and fair elections.
