The Surkanda Devi ropeway in Tehri district will remain completely closed for 10 days from September 21 to September 30 due to scheduled repair work. During this period, devotees visiting the Surkanda Devi Temple for prayers and darshan will have to walk from Kaddukhal to the temple.
According to Surkanda Devi Ropeway coordinator Naresh Bijalwan, repair work on the ropeway will be carried out during the 10-day closure. The facility will resume operations from October 1 as per its regular schedule.
Devotees planning to visit the temple between September 21 and September 30 will therefore have to cover approximately 1.5 kilometres on foot from Kaddukhal to Surkanda Devi Temple. Visitors have been advised to keep the temporary closure in mind while planning their pilgrimage during this period.
