Dehradun. The Uttarakhand government has amended the rules related to Child Care Leave (CCL) for women government employees and single parents to simplify the leave approval process.
Under the revised rules, Child Care Leave will now be approved in the same manner as earned leave. The state government has issued a modified order in this regard.
According to the new provisions, women government employees and single parents, including both men and women, will not be granted Child Care Leave for less than five days or more than 120 days at a time.
The government has also changed the authority responsible for approving the leave. Earlier, the power to sanction Child Care Leave rested with the appointing authority. Now, the competent authority that approves earned leave will also be authorised to sanction Child Care Leave. Officials said the changes were made to make the approval process easier and faster for employees.
The order clarified that eligible women employees and single parents are entitled to a maximum of two years of Child Care Leave during their entire service period, subject to prescribed conditions. As per the government order dated June 1, 2003, all public holidays falling during the Child Care Leave period will also be counted as part of the leave duration.
