4 Arrested for Performing Stunts to Gain Online Fame in Dehradun

In a bid to gain social media fame, four youths from Dehradun ended up in police custody after videos of them performing dangerous stunts on Thar vehicles went viral. The video, shared on various social media platforms, showed the youths engaging in rash driving and stunts with heavily tinted windows—violating traffic laws.

Taking cognisance of the viral video, SSP Ajay Singh directed Cantt Kotwali in-charge Inspector KC Bhatt to investigate. The black Thar seen in the video was found registered under the name of Zamanuddin from Mitralok Colony. Police intercepted the vehicle in the Bindal area, where driver Ayaan failed to produce any documents, leading to immediate seizure of the vehicle.

Another Thar, being driven by Ayaan’s friend Harsh, was also seized for similar violations. Both youths admitted they were trying to increase their Instagram followers by filming and uploading stunt videos online.

In a separate incident, two more youths were caught performing stunts inside the Nehru Colony police station premises while collecting their previously seized bike. Identified as Indresh from Patel Nagar and Mohit Kumar, the duo started reckless riding without helmets within the station compound, leading to their vehicle being seized again.

SSP Singh stated that police will continue to take strict action against such reckless behavior, especially when public safety is compromised for social media attention.
