Haridwar: Police arrested a man for allegedly threatening to blow up Haridwar by making a hoax bomb threat call to Dial-112 while under the influence of alcohol.
According to police, the accused called the city control room during the early hours of Sunday and threatened that bomb blasts would take place in Haridwar within four days. He also allegedly used abusive language and made objectionable remarks against senior officials.
The threat call triggered panic within the police department, following which a case was registered against an unidentified caller at Kotwali Nagar. The investigation was handed over to SSI Gopal Dutt Bhatt.
Using technical surveillance and mobile tracking, police identified the accused as Sohan Singh Rawat, son of Madan Singh Rawat, a resident of Pata village under Yamkeshwar police station in Pauri Garhwal district.

Police detained him from the Rodibelwala area and questioned him. During interrogation, the accused admitted that he made the threatening call while intoxicated and intended to spread panic. SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar said the accused works at a hotel in Haridwar and is addicted to alcohol. Police added that no previous criminal record of the accused has surfaced so far.
