A dramatic scene unfolded outside the Bajpur Kotwali on Saturday when a woman allegedly assaulted her boyfriend with slippers after he reportedly backed out of their planned marriage. The incident created chaos at the police station entrance, prompting officers to intervene and separate the two.
According to reports, the woman, a resident of a village in the Bareilly police outpost area, had been in a relationship for several years with a man from a village in the Bajpur area. The man is reportedly the younger brother of the woman’s sister’s husband.
Sources said that marriage talks between the two families had progressed and the alliance had been informally agreed upon. However, the dispute escalated after the man allegedly refused to go ahead with the marriage.
Angered by the alleged refusal, the woman confronted him outside the Bajpur Kotwali gate and struck him repeatedly with her slippers. The commotion drew the attention of police personnel and bystanders, causing brief chaos at the spot.
Police officials intervened immediately, separated the two, and brought the situation under control. Further action, if any, will depend on the complaints or statements submitted by the parties involved.
