Continuous rainfall in Uttarakhand has disrupted normal movement at several places, with the Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers trekking route damaged near Pulna village. Waterlogging has also been reported in parts of Haridwar following rain.
The pedestrian route to Hemkund Sahib and the Valley of Flowers has been damaged at several points near Pulna village. The damage has made movement difficult for pilgrims and tourists travelling along the route.
With debris reported at several locations, pilgrims are being forced to cross the damaged sections while taking risks. Women, elderly pilgrims and children are facing particular difficulties.
After the route was obstructed, the administration directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repairs. However, the condition of the route remained unchanged on Saturday, with debris still present at several points.
Joshimath Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Chandrashekhar Vashishth said the Hemkund Sahib pedestrian route had been damaged near Pulna village. He said the PWD had been instructed to repair the route and work would be completed soon.
Rain in Dehradun, Waterlogging in Haridwar
Rain was reported in parts of Dehradun city, bringing some relief from the prevailing weather conditions and making the weather more pleasant.
Meanwhile, several areas of Haridwar witnessed waterlogging after rainfall. Water accumulated at Bhagat Singh Chowk and the railway underpass, causing inconvenience to commuters.
The waterlogging affected movement at these locations and created difficulties for people travelling through the affected areas.
The latest disruptions highlight the impact of continued rainfall on roads and pedestrian routes in the hill districts as well as drainage infrastructure in the plains.
