Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a significant meeting with representatives of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC) to address issues concerning the tribal population of the state. The discussion took place during his two-day visit to Tripura, where he also attended the 72nd plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council. Chief Minister Manik Saha, BJP’s Northeast coordinator Sambit Patra, and other state ministers were present during the meeting.
This was the first interaction between the TTADC delegation and the Home Minister since the signing of the ‘Tiprasa Agreement’ in March. The discussions centered on the upliftment and empowerment of the tribal communities, with Chief Minister Saha emphasizing its importance for tribal welfare.
Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma appreciated Shah’s commitment to resolving tribal issues promptly. He also highlighted the constructive dialogue between the Home Minister, party leaders, tribal chiefs, and elders, terming it a positive development.
A.K. Mishra, advisor to the Ministry of Home Affairs and head of the high-level committee, has previously conducted two rounds of meetings in Delhi with representatives of the Tripura government and Tipra Motha. These deliberations aim to find amicable solutions to the challenges faced by the tribal population.
