BJP Faces Rebellion, Disciplinary Action Initiated Against Workers

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand municipal elections have exposed cracks within the BJP, as several workers, including the son of an MLA, rebelled against the party’s official candidates. Despite extensive efforts by state president Mahendra Bhatt, MPs, ministers, and party leaders to resolve the issue, many dissidents refused to withdraw their nominations in key municipalities such as Uttarkashi, Tehri, Karnaprayag, and Dugadda.

The party has now sought a list of rebels from district presidents and is preparing to expel them for six years under disciplinary action.

In Karnaprayag, MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta’s son, Jai Prakash, filed his nomination against the BJP candidate, Ganesh Shah. Similarly, Vikram Singh Kathait and Anusuya Nautiyal in Tehri and Bhavana Chauhan in Dugadda ignored party leadership’s appeals. In Uttarkashi, Bhupendra Chauhan has stood firm against Kishore Bhatt.

State BJP president Mahendra Bhatt stated, “Strict action will be taken against those who have not withdrawn their nominations, as discipline is paramount in the party.”
