A powerful earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale struck Tibet’s Dingri County in Shigatse City on Tuesday morning at 9:05 AM, leaving 95 dead and over 130 injured, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC). The earthquake’s epicenter was at a depth of 10 km, causing widespread destruction.
Multiple Aftershocks Create Panic
Earlier in the morning, at 6:30 AM, a 7.1 magnitude quake was recorded, followed by aftershocks of 4.7, 4.9, and 5 magnitudes. These continuous tremors forced residents to flee their homes in fear.
Tremors Felt in India
The earthquake’s effects extended to parts of India, with tremors felt in Bihar, Assam, Sikkim, and West Bengal, causing panic as people rushed outdoors for safety.
