The stalled construction of the Ballupur-Paonta Sahib Highway Project has resumed after receiving approval for two underpasses. The work, halted for the past ten months, gained momentum following the intervention of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, who facilitated discussions with local residents. The NHAI approved the underpasses between Premnagar and Vikasnagar, addressing public demands.
The impasse arose due to villagers’ protests over unapproved underpasses, delaying land acquisition. With the consensus now reached, the acquisition process will commence shortly. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹1594.33 crore, aims for completion by February 2025.
The highway spans 22 km of greenfield areas, reducing the Dehradun-Paonta Sahib distance by 5-7 km. This will save time and fuel for travelers. With obstacles now resolved, the project is set to proceed smoothly.
