Hemkund Sahib Yatra: Lokpal Laxman Temple Doors Opened

On the auspicious occasion of Krishna Ekadashi, the doors of the sacred Lokpal Laxman Temple were ceremoniously opened at 2:15 PM today. With this, devotees will be able to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Laxman for the next four months. Head priest Bhagwati Prasad Pandey informed that villagers from Pulna took a holy dip in the sacred glacial lake and prayed for peace and prosperity in the region.

The doors of Hemkund Sahib will open for pilgrims on May 25. Sikh devotees, led by the Panj Pyare, will begin their journey to Ghangharia tomorrow from Govindghat. Over 500 pilgrims have already reached Ghangharia ahead of the main yatra.

A separate batch of devotees from Rishikesh, also led by the Panj Pyare, has arrived at Govindghat. On Saturday, they will perform Ardas at the Govindghat Gurdwara before departing for Ghangharia. After an overnight halt, the group will trek to Hemkund Sahib on Sunday, where the shrine’s doors will be opened with traditional rituals.

Seva Singh, the Gurdwara manager, confirmed that preparations are complete and pilgrim movement has already picked up at Govindghat and Jyotirmath. Devotees are steadily arriving to participate in the spiritual journey.
