Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has assured positive action on the ropeway proposals submitted by the Uttarakhand government. These proposals, submitted under the Parvatmala Scheme, will be reviewed in phases by the National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) for approval.
The assurance came during a meeting held at a hotel on Saharanpur Road in Dehradun, attended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, PWD Secretary Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Tourism Secretary Sachin Kurve, and other departmental officials.
Over 50 ropeway projects have been submitted by the state tourism department to NHLML. CM Dhami urged the Union Minister for quick approval, and Gadkari responded positively. In the first phase, the state is hopeful of receiving approval for at least eight ropeway projects.
During the meeting, the state also proposed that 20 key temple routes spanning 508 km, identified under the Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission, be widened into double-lane roads and declared as national highways. This proposal has an estimated cost of ₹8000 crore, with an initial demand of ₹1000 crore to begin land acquisition and forest clearance procedures. A letter from CM Dhami addressed to Prime Minister Modi was also mentioned in support of the proposal.
Minister Gadkari assured appropriate action on the requests submitted by the Uttarakhand government.
