In a major late-night administrative reshuffle on Thursday, the Uttarakhand government transferred 31 IAS officers, one IFS officer, one Secretariat Service officer, and 24 PCS officers. Notably, District Magistrates (DMs) of four key districts—Pauri, Champawat, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi—have been replaced.
Swati S. Bhadauria, currently NHM Director and Additional Secretary to the Governor, has been appointed as the new DM of Pauri, replacing Ashish Chauhan, who is now CEO of UCADA and Director of Sports & Youth Welfare. Champawat DM Navneet Pandey has been posted as Additional Secretary (Personnel), and CDO Udham Singh Nagar Manish Kumar takes over as the new DM of Champawat.
In Rudraprayag, DM Saurabh Gaharwar has been made MD SIDCUL and DG Industries, while Prateek Jain, former MD SIDCUL, becomes the new DM. For Uttarkashi, Prashant Kumar Arya replaces Mehrban Singh Bisht, who now holds Energy and Cooperation portfolios along with the directorship of UREDA.
The reshuffle also saw significant departmental changes. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan was relieved from Watershed duties, and multiple senior IAS officers had key portfolios either removed or reassigned—including departments like Finance, Health, Education, and Tourism.
Among PCS officers, major changes included appointments of new CDOs, ADMs, and Municipal Commissioners in districts such as Almora, Haridwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, and Dehradun. Bharat Singh Firmal was relieved from RFC Kumaon and posted as Additional Secretary in Secretariat Service. Several officers were moved to new roles in UKSSSC, GMVN, Urban Development, and Labor departments.
