Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has issued a strong message, emphasizing that peaceful times are often deceptive and that the nation must remain vigilant and battle-ready at all times. Citing the courage displayed during “Operation Sindoor”, Singh praised the Indian Armed Forces for showcasing exceptional strategy and valor, which has boosted India’s defence credibility on the global stage.
He stated that India has significantly reduced its dependence on foreign imports, with most defence equipment now being manufactured domestically. This shift not only strengthens the military but has also generated growing international demand for Indian-made defence products — a sign of rising self-reliance.
Highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor, Singh noted that the mission demonstrated India’s technological and strategic capability. Several countries have since shown interest in acquiring Indian defence platforms, reaffirming faith in India’s manufacturing capacity.
Rajnath Singh underscored the importance of constant readiness. “Even if the situation appears peaceful, we must prepare for unforeseen challenges,” he warned, adding that India must enhance both its economic and military infrastructure to respond swiftly to emergencies.
He urged that defence spending should be viewed as a vital national investment rather than a financial burden. With global military expenditure touching $2.7 trillion, Singh said India’s defence sector now holds immense potential to drive economic growth.
Addressing officials of the Defence Accounts Department, Singh advised them to shift from being mere controllers to becoming enablers. He stressed the importance of internal reviews, faster processes, and greater flexibility, especially with increased private sector involvement in defence production.
