The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has issued a strong advisory to its 3.35 lakh personnel after reports emerged about an unauthorized mobile application named ‘Sambhav Application Writer.’ The app, available on social media platforms and Google Play Store, falsely claims to automatically generate applications for CRPF personnel.
According to the CRPF headquarters, this app is neither developed nor authorized by the force. Personnel have been strictly instructed not to download, install, or use it. The advisory warned that uploading details such as force numbers, unit information, or personal data on the fake app could expose sensitive information, creating serious risks to operational security.
The alert further clarified that CRPF already has its official ‘Sambhav’ app, launched five years ago, which enables personnel to access financial and departmental information seamlessly. This official app works only when the personnel’s mobile number is updated in the Personal Information System (PIS). Any mismatch in the registered number may block access to salary details, welfare notifications, and other important updates.
In recent days, social media platforms like WhatsApp and YouTube have been circulating claims about the fake application, misleading personnel into believing it is a support tool. The force has directed all battalions and offices to immediately inform personnel about the risks during morning parades and evening roll calls. The advisory also warned that any violation of these instructions could result in disciplinary action.
