Dehradun: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially registered a case in connection with the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) graduate-level recruitment paper leak case. The FIR, lodged late Monday night under the state’s anti-copying law at the CBI’s Dehradun ACB branch, names four accused — Khalid, Suman, Sabia, and Heena. The investigation has been assigned to Assistant Superintendent Rajeev Chandola.
The case stems from the graduate-level recruitment exam conducted by the UKSSSC on September 21, during which reports emerged of a paper leak from an examination center in Haridwar. The incident sparked widespread outrage among candidates, who began a sit-in protest near Parade Ground, Dehradun, questioning the integrity of the recruitment process.
Despite multiple rounds of talks between the protesters and authorities, no resolution was initially reached. Two suspects were arrested earlier, and a single-member inquiry commission was constituted. However, protesters continued to demand a CBI probe and cancellation of the exam.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally visited the protest site on September 29, where he announced a CBI inquiry. The following day, the state government formally issued a notification recommending the probe. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has now approved this recommendation, leading to the official registration of the case.
