Dehradun, 27 Oct: Chairman of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, Narendra Jeet Singh Bindra, called on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Secretariat, here, on Monday.
During the meeting, Bindra expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister, the State Government, and the local administration for their active cooperation in ensuring smooth arrangements for the Hemkund Sahib Yatra this year.
He said that, under the Chief Minister’s special guidance and timely directions, the Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage was conducted successfully and efficiently. This year, a record 2,75,000 devotees from across India and abroad participated in the sacred journey. Despite adverse weather conditions, the Yatra was managed with remarkable efficiency, and the safety, coordination, and facilities provided to the pilgrims were widely appreciated.
Bindra also discussed with the Chief Minister certain key suggestions related to infrastructure and logistics improvements for future pilgrimages.
The Chief Minister assured that all necessary measures would be taken on priority before the commencement of the next Yatra season. He said that along with the Char Dham Yatra, the Hemkund Sahib Yatra holds great spiritual and cultural importance for the state. Situated amidst the lofty Himalayas, this holy shrine is a symbol of Uttarakhand’s identity.
The Chief Minister added that the state government has prepared an effective action plan for the development of pilgrimage sites and for improving facilities for devotees. He also mentioned that the proposed ropeway from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib will make travel in the Himalayan region more convenient.
It is worth noting that just two months before the commencement of the Yatra, the crucial bridge connecting Govindghat to the Hemkund route was completely destroyed due to a major landslide. However, with the direct intervention and effective leadership of the Chief Minister, a new Ghati Bridge was completed ahead of schedule, ensuring uninterrupted movement of pilgrims.
Bindra also thanked the Chief Minister for issuing directives to celebrate the 350th martyrdom year of Guru Tegh Bahadur with grandeur across the state and to raise public awareness about his supreme sacrifice for the protection of faith and humanity.
He expressed confidence that under the continued guidance of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Hemkund Sahib Yatra will continue to grow as a symbol of faith, unity, and seamless pilgrimage management.
