Nainital – A major recruitment scam has surfaced in Nainital district, where several candidates who completed D.El.Ed in Uttar Pradesh secured assistant teacher jobs in Uttarakhand using fake permanent residence certificates. After a similar case in Udham Singh Nagar, this latest revelation has raised serious concerns about irregularities in the recruitment process.
According to information obtained through the Right to Information Act, more than 25 such teachers have been identified in Nainital district alone. These candidates reportedly presented Uttar Pradesh-issued D.El.Ed certificates along with forged Uttarakhand domicile documents to obtain government teaching positions. The education department has now decided to conduct a full verification of all related records. Officials stated that if the allegations are proven, such teachers will be dismissed.
In Udham Singh Nagar, the department has already issued notices to teachers involved in similar cases. Following this, local D.El.Ed diploma holders in Nainital sought information regarding teachers who completed D.El.Ed in UP. As per norms, candidates who pursue D.El.Ed in Uttar Pradesh must hold UP domicile. Yet many applicants obtained Uttarakhand domicile certificates through affidavits just before recruitment, enabling them to secure jobs in the state.
Chief Education Officer Govind Jaiswal confirmed that possessing permanent residence certificates from two states is a criminal offence. He said the department will thoroughly examine the documents of all such teachers. If found guilty, strict action, including termination, will follow. The ongoing verification has created panic among teachers who completed D.El.Ed in UP and then used Uttarakhand domicile for employment.
Meanwhile, action is already underway in Udham Singh Nagar. One teacher has been suspended, while a woman teacher resigned before the investigation could reach her.
