BJP and Congress Announce Candidates for Municipal Elections

The BJP and Congress have unveiled their candidates for the upcoming municipal elections in Uttarakhand. Congress has fielded Lalit Joshi for the Haldwani mayoral seat, while BJP is expected to announce its candidate for the same seat on Saturday. On Friday night, BJP declared candidates for five municipal councils in Nainital district and the Lalkuan municipal board. Shortly after, Congress also released its list for the mayoral position and four municipal council chairperson posts.

BJP Prioritizes Dedicated Workers

BJP has nominated long-serving and loyal party workers for key municipal positions:

  • Nainital Municipal Council: Jiwanti Devi
  • Ramnagar: Madan Joshi
  • Bhowali: Prakash Arya
  • Bhimtal: Kamla Arya
  • Kaladhungi: Kavita Walia
  • Lalkuan Municipal Board: Prem Pandit

Congress Releases Its Candidate List

Congress announced its candidates as follows:

  • Nainital Municipal Council: Saraswati Khetwal
  • Bhimtal: Seema Tamta
  • Bhowali: Pankaj Kumar Arya
  • Kaladhungi: Bhavana Sati

However, Congress is yet to declare candidates for Ramnagar Municipal Council and Lalkuan Municipal Board.

BJP Faces Internal Discontent

The announcement of BJP’s list led to dissatisfaction among several aspirants who were denied tickets. To manage the discontent, party officials and MLAs have been mobilized to pacify the aggrieved members and their supporters.
